Duncan: 41 Weeks Old

Duncan is 41 weeks old today! We've had a fun week full of big milestones! This little guy is turning into such a big boy these days. :)

His drooling is out of control this week and it is starting to make him break-out. His face is a mess of acne thanks to his favorite sleeping position: on his face in pools of slobber all night long. Poor guy! He's still pretty cute, though. :)

This week's big accomplishments:

-  Big people foods! He's eating Cheerios, oatmeal, tofu, brown rice,
ground turkey, spaghetti, and greek yogurt along with all of his
usual fruits and veggies (which are hardly ever pureed anymore).
He seems to enjoy all these new flavors and textures! He really
loved his oatmeal mixed with sauteed blueberries & cinnamon. :)

-  Self feeding! He's finally decided it's kind of fun to feed himself.
He's picking up puffs and Cheerios and getting the hang of
getting them to his mouth. He gets SO excited when he does it
successfully & likes to make sure we're watching! It's pretty cute!

-  Cruising! He has been getting super frustrated with trying to get to
different things while standing and he's finally figured out how to use
the furniture to help him get around the room. Trouble!!

-  He's getting much better at sitting himself back down from standing,
too. But there have been a lot of tumbles and head bonking in the
    process. Silly child of mine...

We finished all of our catch-up cleaning and laundry from our vacation and found time to get to the park a couple times for some fun over the weekend. Duncan is starting to get over his dislike of grass. He crawled through it several times, but I think it was mainly due to his obsession with getting to the stroller wheels. He loves to investigate
them every chance he gets. :)

On Sunday, we had our friends Jenn, Ryan, and baby Liam over for lunch, playtime, and a park outing but I forgot my phone & camera at home so no photos of the little guys together. Boo. Although, that good little baby Liam slept the entire time we were out walking and at the park so I would have had to take pictures of them at home (which I didn't do because we were too busy eating and playing). Haha!

But I did take some snaps on Saturday when it was just us at the park. That's just going to have to do for now. I promise to get my act together next time we see Liam. :)

Hahaha! That last one cracks me up! Matt is such a good sport whenever I make him take silly photos. :) My boys are pretty awesome!

We hope everyone is having a good week! See you again next Wednesday!

Tam

Duncan: 40 Weeks Old

Duncan turned 40 weeks old yesterday and we are still playing catch-up with our posts! But it sure is worth it since we had a really great week of vacation fun. :)

We spent a majority of Duncan's 40th week in Tahoe! It was our first road trip and it was a blast! Duncan was such a good baby during the drive up to Tahoe (although he refused to nurse on the road), the weather was absolutely gorgeous, and the lake was as beautiful as we remembered. :)

Our cabin was roomy and quiet but a tad dark inside. We spent our time in the outdoors as much as possible anyway, so the dark cabin wasn't much of a bother. Duncan slept/napped very well in his own room in the Pack n Play the ENTIRE time. We were so proud of him! There was lots of play time, meals on the deck, walks to the park & lake, and trips to the beach. It was the best time. We are definitely looking forward to next year's trip. Duncan will be walking by then and should provide us with all sorts of new entertainment! :)

Plesums Cabin
Checking out the cabin decor
Breakfast on the deck
First time on a swing
Not sure what all the hype is about...
First time on a slide
That was ok, I guess. :)
Might take some getting used to.
Daddy's pretty fun to hang out with at the park!
... and at the lake!
... and on walks (even tho my face doesn't say so)!
... and in the cabin!
Someone sure loves reading time. :)
Packing up for home
And for those of you not following me on Twitter or Instagram, here are the fun real-time snapshots (minus my commentary) you missed during our trip:

Well, we will miss Tahoe until we can get back up there next year. By then we will have forgotten the horrendously long, hot, stop-and-go drive home. Duncan had a major meltdown in the car but it was only once during our 7-hr trip home. All in all, he was a trooper and we had a fantastic time on vacation!

Since we've been back home, it's been a lot of cleaning, chasing baby, making baby food, doing laundry, and dealing with the sudden onslaught of mega-drool!! I think someone's teething again... :P

Duncan: 9 Months Old

"9" onesie made by: Cousin Trang

Duncan turned 9 months old on July 12th!

We're a little late with this post because we were on vacation (more on our fun trip to Tahoe in the next post), so we apologize! It's so amazing to me that 9 months have gone by already. Our little guy is turning into such a big boy!

What's new with Duncan this month:
-  He's a crawling master! So very, very, very, fast...
-  He's pulling up to stand in his crib, against the coffee table, book shelf,
jumperoo... it just goes on and on...
-  He's obsessed with cords and cables. Loves to yank on them! :(
-  He LOVES eating puffs and yogurt melts. LOVES them. Just doesn't
    love picking them up. lol
-  He LOVES to eat fresh fruits: blueberries, nectarines, melons...
-  He likes avocados FINALLY!
-  He likes to eat beef. Not even a wince the first time!
-  He LOVES dance time with Daddy!
-  He does not like grass. It stops him on a dime. :)
-  He reaches out his arms for us to pick him up (or just climbs up onto
    us whining). :)
-  Separation anxiety BIG TIME. We can't get away for even a second!
-  He took his first road trip! And was fairly good the whole way!

Being able to stand and not really certain about how to sit back down has been a challenge at nap time, but he's still sleeping really well at night (9 to 11 hrs!). Hopefully he'll figure out how to sit back down on his own soon and we can go back to our good naps that didn't involve me having to go in and help a screaming Duncan lay back down 2 or 3 times before he actually falls asleep. It's no fun! But I guess all the napping drama during the day wears him out because at bedtime, he usually falls asleep instantly without a peep. So I shouldn't complain! :)

Today's photo session was nearly impossible with a speedy crawler who does not like to sit still. I deserve mad props for even being able to get this many shots of the little guy. I spent most of the time chasing him down and sitting him up. It wore me out!! What will I do next month?!

Love you more than you could ever know, Duncan punkin...

Love,
Mommy
