Duncan: 50 Weeks Old

Duncan is 50 weeks old today! That is a lot of weeks! How can he be almost a year old already? It's all happening so fast. Holy cow!

My little peanut is such a boy. He loves all things with wheels: cars, trucks, trains, planes, construction vehicles, pictures of all of the above, strollers, wagons, EVERYTHING! Big or small, he is always inspecting the wheels on things. He will just sit there and spin them in complete fascination.

So obviously, his new favorite book is his "Trucks" book. Each page has moveable parts to illustrate what each vehicle does and he just loves to look at all the different types of trucks over and over again. Today, for example, we have read it about two dozen times and I finally had to put it on top of the book shelf to get him to move on to something else. :)

We had a fun weekend with trips to Noe Valley and the zoo! Duncan has suddenly grown like a weed and was in desperate need of new shoes so we went shoe shopping in Noe Valley, had lunch at a fantastic little Mexican food spot, and got in some play time at the local playground. At the playground, Daddy showed Duncan how to ride the "motorcycles" and the kid was instantly addicted. He bounced & giggled like crazy on it! He is going to be trouble, I can tell. LOL It sure was a fun afternoon. :)

Sunday, we spent the afternoon at the zoo! The boys had never been to the petting zoo part of the children's area before, so I took them there to get up close with some farm animals. Daddy loved it! He looked like he had fun feeding the goats. :)

Ahhh, but all this fun always has it's price, doesn't it?

After having just gotten over a nasty cold, it seems as if he is in for another one. :( Today, he is burning up with a fever of 103+. He's been in a pretty decent mood most of the time and doesn't seem to have any other symptoms yet, so I hope his fever comes down and he's back to being healthy soon. Man! We can't catch a break!

Here's hoping we have a good week ahead and get over this latest bug quickly! AND that the nice weather returns. We want to get back to more fun, sun, and goofing around. :)

Until next week, wash your hands!

Tam

Duncan: 11 Months Old

"11" onesie made by: Michelle :)

Actually, the little man is 49 weeks old today. He turned 11 months last week but we are so behind! Being sick sure makes it hard to get anything done on time. So we'll just combine the posts to make it easier on ourselves. :)

I feel like we've had a super busy month! Duncan has had lots of growth, transitions, and experiences this month that have been so much fun for all of us. He's turning into such a big boy so fast!

Fun tidbits from this month:
  - He has a total of 6 teeth! The top 4 front teeth came in all at once!
  - He weaned off of breastfeeding and moved onto formula. Lots of
bottle-washing in our lives now! :P
  - He went to the zoo for the first time and lots of times since!
  - He rode in a shopping cart for the first time. Very fun! :)
  - We took him to San Rafael for cuban sandwiches & the beach! It
was so much fun that we went 2 weekends in a row. :)
  - He went to the Bay Area Discovery Museum and LOVED playing in
the crawler playroom and outdoor stream. Lots of splashing! We met
up with our good friend, Liam, & had a great afternoon there!

  - He eats anything and everything. If we offer it to him, he eats it. It's
awesome! It's so nice to have him sharing the same meals that we
eat. It's forced us to eat healthier, too, which is nice. He LOVES meats
and all fruits, especially mangoes. :)
  - He is behaving enough that we have been able to eat out at
restaurants several times! Yay! We notice that he does prefer outdoor
patio seating & fresh air. We get a more patient Duncan that way. :)

  - He is very adept at stooping to pick up toys while standing against
the table or couch. He mostly squats down to pick them up while
leaving one hand on the tabletop so he can pull himself back up
    quickly. It's so cute!
  - He will sometimes let go of the table completely to hold a toy with
both hands while standing. It takes a couple seconds for him to realize
it and plop down on his bottom. :)
  - He LOVES to chase us around his new tunnel! He just giggles and
giggles! He is so fast and it is killing our knees crawling around it so
    he can chase us. :)

  - The last time we weighed him, he was +/- 23 pounds and is 29" long!
That's pretty big for a little chunky monkey! :)

This last week, we had friends (Andrew and Lee) and family (Neela and Payal) visit for some quality Duncan time. It's always fun to see the little guy with those who adore him so much! Yes, Daddy dressed him in the same outfit on both days... (sigh).

The rest of our time has been spent enjoying the sunshine, playing hard, and planning the Duncanator's birthday party! It takes a lot of cupcake taste-testing! Hehehe... And a lot of other planning & coordinating. It does help, though, if you have an awesome sister-in-law who is uber creative and skilled at doing crafts. She is making a ton of stuff for the party, including Duncan's birthday shirt! I'm so excited! It's going to be a great time. :)

And that's the latest & greatest! Consider us caught up. :) We'll be back next Wednesday with the regular weekly post. See ya then!

Tam

Duncan: 48 Weeks Old

Out sick!

Yup, Duncan is 48 weeks old today and it's his 11 month birthday! BUT we are calling it a sick day since the little man woke up with a nasty fever, congestion, and a terrible case of the grumps. I hardly felt it necessary to ask him to pose for onesie photos, so we spent the day trying to rest and I did my best to keep him comfortable.

So, we'll be back with his 11 month post when he's feeling better. Look at that gloomy little face. Poor little guy! :(

Duncan: 47 Weeks Old

Duncan is 47 weeks old today!

He has been QUITE the busy body this week. Lots of playing with EVERYTHING he owns in rapid succession, lots of reading ALL of his books in rapid succession (mostly only halfway through before he's moved on to the next), lots of eating everything in the house, and lots of outings over the holiday weekend! We are exhausted! Well, one of us is still pretty energetic:

Over the long weekend, we took advantage of the extra time with Daddy. We did some shopping errands, went to our new favorite beach park, and spent an afternoon at the SF Botanical Gardens for some relaxation.

Too much fun when Daddy's home on holiday weekends! Mommy's tired from chasing a wild Duncan around all day so she is going to keep this post short.

Oh, and Duncan's decided over the last few days that he is going to throw a ferocious fit at bedtime/naptime and scream in his crib like an angry banshee hoping that he will get released for more play time as a result. It doesn't work but it is still pretty tiring for everyone, too. Let's hope this is just a phase that passes soon. :)

See you next week!!

Love,
Tam
